Dysport has arrived at Derma Health Institute! For the first time since it was released in 1992, Botox has a healthy competitor in the facial wrinkle market and we are excited to be one of the first providers in the Phoenix area.
Like Botox® Cosmetic, Dysport™ is a simple, effective, non-surgical treatment that works by relaxing facial muscles, thereby reducing and smoothing away frown-lines and wrinkles.
It is injected with a needle the size of a human eyelash and the results last from four to six months. Used properly, Dysport™ dramatically decreases:
- Frown lines
- Forehead furrows
- Crow’s feet
Physician injectors who have worked with both Botox® and Dysport™ have reported that while the two are relatively comparable. They sometimes prefer one over the other in certain facial areas, due to differences in the onset of results, and spread of effect. Dysport™ is decidedly faster-acting and giving a more 'natural' look, while Botox® tends to remain more localized, allowing for greater precision and predictability in the treatment area, but possibly requiring more injections in the course of a treatment.
Dysport™ is currently used in over sixty countries throughout Europe, Asia and South America -- and it is supported by over a decade of clinical experience. It was originally developed in the United Kingdom in the early 1990’s to successfully treat cervical dystonia in adults to reduce the severity of abnormal head position and neck pain, and the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines.
In most unbiased neurological studies, Dysport has provided equal or greater efficacy when used in a 1 to 2.5 ratio to Botox. In a double-blinded randomized crossover study, results showed Dysport™ to be more effective than Botox with a similar safety and side effects.
Based on the manufacturers recommendation of units, the price of Dysport comparable to the price of Botox. Like Botox® Cosmetic, there is no downtime with Dysport™.
