Have you ever woken up and wondered who was looking at you in the mirror? You don’t have to feel trapped by the image you see in your reflection. There are ways to feel free in your own skin, to make the outside match the youthful you inside.

Several treatments can breathe life back into your skin. Let’s imagine our skin as a bed with many layers: The “box springs” (dermis) are the deepest layer of the skin and when it loses its “spring,” the mattress (epidermis) sags or wrinkles. The top layer of the skin, the stratum corneum, is the sheet set that needs to change regularly.

The Titan Skin Tightening procedure is a deep heating, infrared device that slowly heats the dermis (box spring) to contract existing collagen and stimulate the production of more. This process typically takes three to five treatments, with three or four weeks between treatments. Because we are stimulating new collagen, it can take up to three months to see effects, so it is often combined with a dermal filler to provide more immediate results.

Dermal fillers, such as Juvéderm® or Radiesse®, are substances that we inject into the area of the skin between the box springs (dermis) and mattress (epidermis) to plump up and support the epidermis, effectively reducing or eliminating lines or volume loss. Most people need an average of three to four syringes, depending on the area(s) being treated and amount of correction necessary. These fillers generally offer full correction for nine months to a year.

Products you use at home, such as Vitamin C, Green Tea serum and Refine or Define (retinol) can enhance your treatment results. Vitamin C is crucial for the production of collagenin the skin and retinol helps speed cell turnover and mimic younger skin.

For dynamic wrinkles (wrinkles that appear only with movement), we offer Botox®. Botox® works by blocking a neurotransmitter so the muscles cannot “talk” to each other and contract. If you reduce or eliminate the amount of muscle movement to an area, you can reduce the risk of forming permanent or “static lines.” Common areas for Botox® are the frown lines between the brows, crow’s feet (near the eyes) and forehead wrinkles. On average, women use 40-50 units of Botox® on the face, while men require 50-70 units.

Surprisingly, Botox® is also very useful for the reduction of excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) of the under arms, palms of hands and soles of the feet. Hyperhidrosis treatments usually use 50-100 units per treatment area.
